ANCHOR BARGE (WRECK)
N 25° 30' 47.6"
E 55° 04' 35.7"
25m depth │ 82m length │ 3,900 tonnes
A MV barge, Anchor Barge was sunk in April 1998 to form an artificial reef. She lays upside-down on a ridge of rock a metre high, making the surrounding seabed worth exploring. Powerful torches are beneficial to look up at what has resided on the overhead deck.
Marine Life: Cuttlefish, oysters, black sea squirts, hydrocorals, flatworms (February-March)

HAMMOUR BARGE (WRECK)
N 25° 04' 40.5"
E 54° 46' 06.5"
15m depth │ 60m length
Sunk at least 20 years ago, the hold contains a cargo of pipes making it perfect home for Hammour. Swim around the **** looking in the sand for debris and marine life, then inspect the hull and explore the small cabin, making sure to look inside the pipes in the hold.
Marine life: Reef fish (orange and Gulf dottyback), blennies, Arabian angelfish and Moon Wrasse Hammour.

BARRACUDA BARGE (WRECK)
N 25° 27' 15.6"
E 55° 22' 41.4"
18m depth │ 30m length │ 800 tonnes
It is unknown when or how this barge was sunk, but the engine and steering has been removed which suggests local fisherman sunk the barge to form an artificial reef. The barge sits upright with a double storey wheel-house (top 10m) that can be easily accessed.
Marine life: Shoals of barracuda (winter), yellow snappers, cowries, sponges, nudibranchs and hydroids.

CEMENT BARGE (WRECK)
N 25° 10' 19.7"
E 55° 12' 17.7"
12m depth │ 25m length
This Iraqi boat sunk on May 6th, 1971 due to bad weather. She sits upright and is mostly intact but is deteriorating. Her cargo of cement and the bags can be clearly seen in the separate holds as well as remains of the engines. A line is attached to the port side, from where you can circumnavigate the barge.
Marine life: Hammour, angelfish, batfish, sergeant majors, dottybacks, yellow snapper, juvenile barracudas.

HOPPER BARGE 6 (WRECK)
N 25° 30' 27.9"
E 55° 03' 58.6"
23m depth │ 48m length │1,000 tonnes
This Panamanian dump barge still sits upright despite having sunk in 1985. Circumnavigate the barge, exploring (with a torch) the large cavity on the starboard side. Focus on the barge’s drop bottom doors and the two cabins that housed the doors’ hydraulic gear.
Marine life: Batfish, cowrie ****ls, blennies and guitar sharks.

JASIM (WRECK)
N 24° 58' 47.2"
E 54° 29' 43.8"
27m depth │ 60m length │ 1,200 tonnes
The Jasim was sunk on 25th March 1986 by the UAE armed forces, during target practice. She lies in her port side and has broken into three large sections; the stern and engine room, mid cargo section with broken hatches, rigging and vehicle parts, and the bow with lamp rooms and deck winches.
Marine life: Brittle stars, blennies, cowrie ****ls, hydrocorals, sea squirts.

LION CITY (WRECK)
N 25° 00' 13.4"
E 54° 31' 43.9"
30m depth │ 60m length │ 1,200 tonnes
Also sunk in 1986 during target practice by the UAE armed forces as target practice, the vessel lies on her side but is mostly intact. The vessel is easily penetrable but its position can be disorientating. The name Lion City can still be seen on the bow and there is a star on the funnel.
Marine life:Lots of white hydro and soft corals, yellow and black spot snapper shoals, nudibranchs.

MV DARA (WRECK)
N 25° 34' 29"
E 55° 27' 58.6"
20m depth │ 121m length │5,030 tonnes
This passenger liner sank on 10th April 1961 after a bomb explosion caused a fire which raged for two days while the ship was being towed by a salvage vessel. The final death toll was 238, the second greatest recorded at sea in peacetime after the Titanic disaster. The Dara lies on her starboard side, broken into three sections
Marine life: Shovelnose guitarfish, eagle rays, feather tailed stingrays, snapper, barracuda and whale sharks.

MV HANNAN (WRECK)
N 24° 50' 11"
E 53° 53' 34"
20m depth │ 42m length │ 288 tonnes
A small coastal vessel, the MV Hannan sank on 3rd August 1986 while she was working in Abu Dhabi oil fields.
Start your dive from the seabed and go around the wreck in a clockwise direction towards the bow - wreck penetration is possible into the bridge and accommodation areas.
Marine life: Barracuda, hammour, pufferfish, batfish, rays and guitar sharks, nudibranchs and sea squirts.

MV LUDWIG (WRECK)
N 25° 06' 53.8"
E 54° 34' 14.1"
27m depth │ 60m length │ 1,200 tonnes
Another vessel sunk by UAE armed forces as target practice, the MV Ludwig has remained intact since she sank onto her port side in 2000. The bridge received a direct hit causing all the internal walls and roof to be destroyed, and there is another projectile exit hole on the starboard side of the hull.
Marine life: Hydrocorals, sea squirts, pennantfish, damselfish, yellow snappers, bannerfish and barracuda.

NASTERAN (WRECK)
N 25° 28' 00"
E 55° 21' 22"
23m depth │ 62m length │ 652 tonnes
This Iranian landing craft sank on 14th March 1970, and lies completely upside down with the detached wheelhouse to the starboard side of the vessel. Access to the accommodation and engine room is possible but use a line and torch as visibility can be poor. Entry into the cargo area is achieved through the landing doors.
Marine life: Strombus ****ls, shrimps, nudibranchs, blennies, sea hares, and if you’re lucky, juvenile sharks.

NEPTUNE 6 (WRECK)
N 25° 30' 22"
E 55° 03' 55"
25m depth │ 79m length │ 2,300 tonnes
A Panamanian drill rig tender, the Neptune 6 sank on 12th November 1973 after an oil rig collision which caused one of Dubai’s worst offshore fires. She lies upside down with debris, including a crane boom and drilling equipment, along her port side. Access is possible to the vessel on both the port and starboard side.
Marine life: White soft coral, blennies, colourful octo-corals, shrimps and stingrays (mainly on the port side).

SWIFT (WRECK)
N 25° 27' 37.7"
E 54° 17' 41.2"
38m depth │27m length
This Bahraini motor tug sank on 21st February 1987 after a collision with a pipe-laying barge. She sits upright and intact in visibility which is usually between 15-20m. There are several ways into the wreck for those trained in wreck penetration, but carry a knife; at times the wreck can be found draped in fishing nets.
Marine life: White soft coral, octo-corals, shoals of yellow and black striped jacks and snappers, oysters.

ZAINAB (WRECK)
N 25° 14' 55.8"
E 54° 51' 32.4"
30m depth │ 70m length │ 1,400 tonnes
Zainab was a Georgian cargo ship involved in the illegal transportation of light fuel oil from Iraq. She was deliberately sunk on 14th April 2001 to avoid being boarded by the US Navy. She is intact and lies on her port side but the sinking resulted in a major oil spill. The bridge and the engine room are easily accessible.
Marine life: Small oysters, juvenile fish, large rays, huge barracuda shoals, yellow snappers, batfish.

TURTLE BARGE
N 25° 26' 43.2"
E 55° 26' 57.6"
8m depth │ other details unknown
Most likely to be a small barge that has been scattered over a large area, but could possibly be two small wrecks. Turtle Barge is excellent for night diving and a length of rope is stretched about 60m between the two main pieces of wreckage, as disorientation can occur due to the various pieces of debris.
Marine life: Clownfish, turtles, hard corals, yellow snappers, blennies, monos, hammour and barracuda.

DB1 (Derrick Barge) / SMB (Sheikh Mohammed’s Barge)
N25 16'47.5"
E55 03'44.5"
25m depth │ other details unknown
The DB1 was sunk by the UAE armed forces to form an artificial reef, along with a number of other vessels and wrecks that form separate dive sites. She lies upside down on a flat, sandy bottom and there are numerous holes in the wreck for the more adventurous to investigate.
